  • Forrest Frank, a Texas-born singer, songwriter, and producer, has a way of weaving the ordinary into something sacred. Known as the lead vocalist of Surfaces - the duo that gave us "Sunday Best" - he's also stepped into the world of Christian contemporary music, where his songs such as "Good Day" carry the unmistakable echo of faith and gratitude.
  • "Good Day" finds Frank strolling through his neighborhood cradling his baby. He notices the small miracles around him: the birds' morning chorus, the soft touch of light on his face. These aren't just pleasant details; to Frank, they are whispers of a Creator who knows him by name. And with that realization, he decides that today will be good, not because the world has changed, but because he has remembered to see it.
  • Frank wrote the song as a reminder that even when life feels heavy, there's something larger at work. "No matter what we're going through, even if our circumstances might look grim," he explained, "the God who made the universe knows exactly what we're going through. He knows our name, our situation, our future. His plan is perfect."
  • Like many blessings, "Good Day" almost didn't happen. Frank wrote it early in 2024 but set it aside after sharing it with a close friend whose feedback was less than enthusiastic. "He was like, 'I don't know about this song,'" Frank admitted to Billboard. It wasn't that the song was bad - it was that it was too much - too happy, too unguarded, too direct. So Frank shelved it, unsure if listeners had room for such unbridled joy.

But then came The Tree House, Frank's intimate online community of fans who are more than listeners - they're collaborators. When he let them vote on a handful of unreleased tracks, "Good Day" emerged as their clear favorite. The response was undeniable. "I kept seeing the comments rolling in, like, "Good Day is my favorite,'" he recalled. Buoyed by their faith in the song, Frank decided to release it.
  • What happened next surprised even Frank. Released on January 19, 2024, "Good Day" soared to the top of the Billboard Christian Digital Songs chart, marking Frank's first solo #1. He included it on his debut solo album, Child of God, a record that topped the Billboard Christian Albums chart for 14 weeks, making it the biggest Christian album debut of 2024.
  • "Good Day" won the 2024 GMA Dove Awards for Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year. Frank also took home the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year.
  • Surface's hit song "Sunday Best" has similar lyrics. Its chorus goes:

Ayy, feeling good, like I should
Went and took a walk around the neighborhood
    Feeling blessed, never stressed
Got that sunshine on my Sunday best

Both songs focus on embracing positivity, expressing gratitude, appreciating nature and finding joy in everyday moments. Though they are similar in overall tone, Frank wrote "Good Day" specifically to encourage listeners to find hope in God's guidance, while "Sunday Best" has a broader, more general message of positivity.
