Songfacts®:

  • "Jesus Is Alive!" is a high-energy Christian hip-hop track by Forrest Frank, released on May 8, 2026. Clocking in at just 2:08, it's over almost before you've finished checking the runtime, but Frank packs a lot into those brief moments. Written and produced entirely by himself, the song became his second #1 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart, following 2025's "Your Way's Better."
  • Frank proclaims Jesus Christ physically rose from the dead and remains alive. He frames the Resurrection not simply as a matter of personal faith, but as a historical event. Frank contrasts Jesus with figures including Muhammad, Joseph Smith, Buddha, and Confucius, stating that while the founders of other belief systems died and remained in their graves, Jesus left an empty tomb behind.

The chorus draws directly from Joshua 24:15 with the declaration, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Christ," framing personal and household faith as a clear, definitive choice.
  • The track opens with a spoken-word excerpt from Philip Anthony Mitchell, founder and lead pastor of 2819 Church in Atlanta. In the sermon clip, Mitchell argues that Jesus stands apart from other religious leaders because His tomb was found empty. Frank later explained on social media that after hearing the message, he "couldn't help" turning it into a song.
  • "Jesus Is Alive!" debuted at #17 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart in its first week, then made a 16-position jump to #1 the following week, one of the fastest rises to the top in the chart's modern era. It was the fourth song to have had reached #1 in two weeks since 2012, following Reba McEntire and Lauren Daigle's "Back To God" (2017), MercyMe's "I Can Only Imagine" (2018), and Lauren Daigle's "You Say" (2018).
  • Weeks before release, teaser clips accumulated over 19 million views. Frank then launched an open-verse challenge, inviting other artists to contribute their own rap verses and remixes. The idea gained enough traction that Rapzilla magazine suggested compiling the best submissions into a full project.

The result was Jesus Is Alive! (Vol. 1), released on May 15, 2026. The 20-track collection contains the original song alongside 19 fan and artist remixes. Among the most unexpected contributors was New Kids on the Block member Donnie Wahlberg, whose appearance demonstrated just how far the challenge had traveled beyond the contemporary Christian music scene.
