Songfacts®:

  • George Strait's first new song in two years is this breezy, carefree tune devoted to the woman he loves and his drink of choice.

    The perfect recipe
    Baby, you and me
    The secret's been found
    Let's pour one right now
    I'm talkin' 'bout Código
I take it with me everywhere I go
Best tequila, baby, don't you know

The lighthearted track celebrates its namesake tequila and the best company to share it with.
  • A longtime partner of Código tequila, Strait penned the song with his son, Bubba Strait, and his frequent collaborator Dean Dillon.
  • Other country artists that have released songs which immortalize tequila include The Eagles, Joe Nichols, Kenny Chesney, Randy Rogers Band and Dan + Shay.
  • The song's music video was filmed at the actual Mexican distillery where the tequila is made. The clip also features a rare appearance by George Strait's wife Norma. Her first cameo is at a scenic outdoor bar with friends. Then at the end of the visual she comes together for a dance with her husband alongside many other couples.
