Album: Art Angels (2015)

Songfacts®:

  • Originally recorded by Grimes in early 2013 for her fourth album, this was never completed after the Canadian musician scrapped all the initial recordings for her follow up to 2012 album Visions. However, Grimes kept the demo and put together an accompanying video featuring footage from her concerts, mixed with shots of her dancing. She released the clip as a thank you to her Asian fans on March 9, 2015.

Grimes said: "I lost the ableton file, so it's not mixed or mastered. I tried to doctor the mp3 into a listenable state, but it was poorly recorded in the first place and never meant to be heard by anyone, so it's a bit of a mess haha."
  • The song is about depression and isolation. Grimes explained: "I was living in the woods when I made it and trying to remember what friendship was like."
