Songfacts®:

  • This is the second part of a song suite that began with 2015's "Synesthesia Pt. 1" from Garratt's Synesthesiac EP. Synesthesia is a neurological condition that makes people's senses do strange things like hear colors and taste sounds. Coldplay's Chris Martin, Lorde, Pharrell and John Mayer all have the condition and see music as colors.
  • Garratt told The Idolator why he is so intrigued by the condition. "I know people who have it, and it’s always fascinated me," he said. "It’s just such an interesting thing, and such a great way to have your body validate something that you’re experiencing, that it instinctively triggers a completely separate sense altogether than the one you’re using at that moment. I just think that’s absolutely fascinating."
