Songfacts®:

  • Jason Derulo's third single from his sophomore album Future History features the production talents of RedOne (Lady Gaga), Beatgeek and Geo Slam. The song was the first one that DeRulo worked together with Red One and the only one to make the album. The Moroccan-Swedish producer also sings backing vocals on the song.
  • Derulo stated: "Fight For You is about fighting for your true love no matter if friends try to hold us down or our problems are trying to hold us down, we can make it through it if we fight together."
  • The contemporary urban power ballad is based around an interpolation of Toto's 1983 hit single "Africa."
