Songfacts®:

  • Emerging on the scene in 2022 as the voice behind Belters Only's chart-topping banger "Make Me Feel Good," Irish-Jamaican singer Jazzy swiftly garnered acclaim with her distinctive vocal stylings. Following the single's meteoric success, Polydor Records came knocking with a juicy record deal for the promising talent. Released on March 10, 2023, "Giving Me" is Jazzy's solo debut.
  • Over steady handclaps and propulsive percussion, Jazzy sings of letting go of the pain of a past relationship. Her soulful voice echoes with the lyrics of shedding the weight of responsibility for the hurt caused and moving on to a brighter tomorrow. As the beats pound and the rhythms pulsate, Jazzy's lyrics convey the cathartic experience of healing and growing stronger, culminating in a newfound liberation that allows her to embrace the world once again. "The sunshine in the rain" has emerged, and Jazzy is ready to paint the town red with her newfound sense of freedom.
  • Belters Only produced this slice of Irish house. Jazzy's path to working with the duo began on the bustling Dublin scene, where she crossed paths with the Belters Only duo, DJs Bisset and Robbie G.

"Bisset and my partner are good friends and they grew up together," Jazzy explained to Sunday World. "Bisset had seen that I was singing and he invited me to do a recording session with him. The first one we made was 'Make Me Feel Good.'"
  • Jazzy started writing "Giving Me" around the same time she started working with Belters Only. "It must have been one of my first sessions," she told Official Charts. "It was in the bag for a little while, before we decided to push it. It felt like a Jazzy track."
  • "Giving Me" topped the Irish chart. The last time an Irish female act reached #1 on the chart was in March 2009, when Julie Anne Dineen's charity single "Do You Believe" reached the summit.
