The word "jobsworth" appeared in the London Times
for the first time on October 2, 1982 in a TV listing for the That's Life
program "which includes the first contenders for the Jobsworth Award, given to the person who enforces the most stupid rule."
That about sums up this comedy song by Jeremy Taylor, who may or may not have originated the word but certainly popularized it. In 1973, he recorded the eponymous album, which included similar comedy numbers.
