JC Hates Faggots

Album: Queen of Denmark (2010)

  • John Grant was forced to exhume a great deal of emotional baggage growing up gay in an American God-fearing Mid-western town. In this song he rails against those followers of Jesus who hate, "pretty much anything you want him to/ Like sitcoms, paedophiles and kangaroos…" He explained to UK's Uncut magazine: "That wouldn't be my idea of Jesus and if you read about him, that's not what he was about at all, hatred. He was about everybody hanging out together and everybody equal. That song is about other people's interpretations as, people saying, 'I hate forks, so Jesus hates forks…'"
