Songfacts®:

  • "Love Song for No One" is as John says, "About talking to the person you haven't even met yet." The singer is tired of being lonely and wants this person to appear. It's a great song to remind you that there is someone for you out there, and you have to be ready for that person to come into your life. >>

  • The song is part of John Mayer's debut album, Room For Squares. It wasn't released as a single but he played it live a lot in his early years. The hits from the album were "No Such Thing" and "Your Body Is A Wonderland."

Mayer made his mark in Atlanta, where he moved in 1997 after growing up in Connecticut. He built a following playing coffee shops and also on the internet back when artist websites and Napster were a big deal.
