Songfacts®:

  • Jonas Blue recruited Australian singer William Singe to perform this song's vocals over his signature tropical house production. Singe first gained recognition as a member of The Collective, an Australian boy band which was formed during the fourth season of The X Factor Australia in 2012, finishing in third place. The Collective subsequently signed with Sony Music Australia and had some success in his home country's market. Singe left the group in February 2015 to pursue his solo career and quickly achieved a huge presence on social media before signing with RCA Records on July 29, 2016.
  • Jonas Blue wrote the song with Roc Nation singer-songwriter RØMANS (Naughty Boy's "Home", Clean Bandit's "Tears") and Ed Drewett who has co-penned hits for the likes of The Wanted (All Time Low, "Glad You Came"), One Direction ("Best Song Ever," Steal My Girl") and Olly Murs ("Dear Darlin'," "The One").
  • Singe sings about a night out where he hopes a love interest will come home with him. Jonas Blue said: "'Mama' is a song about that period of your life when you're young and carefree, without stress, bills and problems and all you care about is having a good time with your friends every day and night!"
