Songfacts®:

  • "Good News Sold" is a feel-good ride that captures the power of positive news on our lives. In a world dominated by negative headlines, Jordan Davis reminds us that if good news got as much attention, the world would be a brighter place. He suggests that we'd all sleep better at night, be less divided, and find comfort in positive stories.
  • Throughout the song, Davis details heartwarming moments:

A little boy reuniting with his lost dog after two weeks.
A cancer patient celebrating remission and saying, "Thank you, Lord."
A couple finally getting their baby dreams fulfilled with a positive pregnancy test.
A soldier returning home to surprise his son during a baseball game.
A stranger lending a hand by the roadside, changing tires with a smile.
Someone coming out of a river, hands up, having just been baptized

Each verse is a snapshot of hope, resilience, and the joy that good news brings.
  • The country star's brother, Jacob Davis, wrote "Good News Sold" with Cole Taylor and Jordan Rowe in the early 2020s. Jordan Davis received it at a time when it seemed like every time he turned on the TV or opened his phone, it was bad news, something he didn't want to read or see.

"I honestly think that there's great news out there every day, and unfortunately, we just have to dig a little deeper to find it," he said. "'Good News Sold' is my hope that good news will turn around here in the future."
  • Davis released "Good News Sold" via MCA Nashville on February 23, 2024. Sharing his inspiration for cutting the song, Davis shared, "I think at times there is no shortage of very heavy headlines locally and globally, and it's hard sometimes to not get lost in that and spiral into being overwhelmed by them. But when you go home and hear your kid laugh or see someone go out of their way to help a stranger, these acts aren't being highlighted in the same way but they very much exist."

He said listening to the song reminded him that "there are good people, acts of kindness, moments of pay it forward, moments of light and joy."
  • "Good News Sold" showcases Jordan Davis' knack for turning real-life snapshots into musical gold. The Louisiana native is a master of wrapping his experiences in warm, relatable tunes that hit you right in the feels. Other Davis songs that tap into those slightly nostalgic yet oh-so-significant moments we all cherish include his Luke Bryan collab "Buy Dirt" and "Next Thing You Know."
  • Paul DiGiovanni, the former lead guitarist of the band Boys Like Girls, produced the song. DiGiovanni has been Davis' producer since the country star's debut single, "Singles You Up."
  • The musicians are:

    Trey Keller: background vocals
    Alex Wright: keyboards
    Derek Wells: electric guitar
    Ilya Toshinskiy: acoustic guitar
    Tony Lucido: bass
    Nir Z: drums
