• "What My World Spins Around" starts off with Jordan Davis listing some of the simple pleasures he enjoys:

  At the end of the second verse, Davis tells us that none of these come close to his relationship with his sweetheart. For the rest of the song, he explains why his world spins around her.

• Since Jordan Davis married Kristen O'Connor in March 2017, she has been his muse for his love songs. They include "Selfish," "Detours," and "Lose You."

• After writing the jaunty, heartfelt song with Ryan Hurd and Matt Dragstrem, Davis inserted it into his concert setlists. When fans responded enthusiastically, trying to sing along despite never having heard it, he felt it had hit potential. Davis released "What My World Spins Around" as his follow-up single to "Buy Dirt" on May 27, 2022.
• "What My World Spins Around" came from Davis trying to write a bunch of songs about how his world has altered since he married Kristen and became a father of two. "For the longest time, I was kind of writing how me and Kristen's relationship had changed and two kiddos have come into the picture," he explained to Billboard. "And I feel like it really was a title that was born out trying to write that song, but not doing it very well."
• Davis recorded his vocal over two days. He did just a few takes each day to keep a fresh sound on the chorus. The challenge was, he told Billboard, "How high that chorus is and getting the flow right, to where I can get my breathing down and not sound like I'm about to blackout at the end of the chorus."
• The song reflects on how Davis' priorities have changed since becoming a husband and father to his children, Eloise and Locklan.
  
  Davis explained that prior to becoming a father, his main priorities were sports, football, hunting, and fishing, and even when he first started dating his wife Kristen, music was still a major focus. However, now that he is a father, everything he does is centered on his family. "I think that's one reason I like this song so much," he said. "It's such a look back on what I used to be about to where I am now."
• Working with Ryan Hurd is always a great experience for Davis because he knows how to bring out the best in him. "My first inclination with that chorus was to drop it a little bit, 'cause it's kind of up there for a long time," he said, "but Ryan was like, 'Naw, you got it. Just sing it.'"
