Songfacts®:

  • This song finds Ritter reflecting back to his marriage to musician Dawn Landes. He told MSN CA: "It feels like a reverie about what it was like to be with somebody. Then to realize all the plans you ever made were based on this, and they were really holding you down."
  • Producer Sam Kassirer incorporated the sound of a car engine to reflect the feeling of driving away. "We just stood out on the road outside," Ritter recalled to MSN. "Not many cars go by. Around 5 p.m., on this little road... I don't know where people were going, because there's nothing out there. Sam did it. It was great."
