Songfacts®:

  • Kali Uchis and Peso Pluma come together in "Igual Que Un Ángel," a synth-pop song set to a thumping pop-house beat. The Colombian artist invites the prince of corridos tumbados to dance with her under the disco ball, creating a genre-blending fusion.
  • The title translates as "Just Like an Angel" - the song is about love's untainted form. Kali Uchis and Peso Pluma whisper of a woman, an enigma not swayed by glitter, who craves only love's purest essence, knowing its power to transform. Though scarred by past heartbreaks, her spirit remains untainted, a testament to resilience. In her, Uchis and Pluma see a celestial being sent to guide us in preserving our hearts through trials and disillusionment.
  • Uchis recorded "Igual Que Un Ángel" for her fourth studio album, Orquídeas, which is titled after the orchid, the national flower of Colombia.

"We have more species of orchid than anywhere on earth," Uchis said. "I always felt distinctly intrigued and magnetized by the flower. This album is inspired by the timeless, eerie, mystic, striking, graceful and sensual allure of the orchid. With this vast scope of fresh energy, I wish to redefine the way we look at Latinas in music."
  • Uchis co-wrote the song with Manuel "Spread LOF2" Lorente and the song's producers, Carter Lang and Dylan "Sir Dylan" Wiggins.

It's one of three Orquídeas tracks co-produced by Carter Lang. The only time Uchis and Lang's musical paths previously crossed was when she featured on Miguel's 2017 Lang-produced track "Caramelo Duro."

Sir Dylan co-produced two of the tracks on Uchis' 2023 Red Moon in Venus album, including the single "I Wish You Roses."
  • Puerto Rican singer and producer Jean Rodríguez sings background vocals. The younger brother of Luis Fonsi, he co-produced the Spanish-language version of "Hey Ma" by Pitbull, J Balvin and Camila Cabello as a member of the production duo Coastcity.
