Songfacts®:

  • Here, Karol G wants to rekindle a past relationship. She hasn't heard from her ex for a while, but now that she's in his neighborhood, she'd like to relive old times with him. But she's leaving tomorrow, so he'd better take advantage while she's around.
  • Provenza is a posh and expensive part of the Poblado commune in the metropolitan area of Medellín, Colombia, where Karol G grew up. Now that she's passing through her hometown again, she asks her former lover to take a walk through her old neck of the woods.
  • Karol G's frequent collaborator Ovy On The Drums produced the track. His cheerful calypso dance beat and the sound of waves add to the song's feel-good vibe. "It wasn't too long from production to the release date. It went really really fast," Ovy On The Drums told Billboard. "I would categorize 'Provenza' as an afro-house, something like that. It's something I've never done in my career."
  • Karol G released "Provenza" as a single on April 22, 2022. She debuted the song live two days later during her second Coachella show.
  • Director Pedro Artola filmed the song's music video in the exotic volcanic landscape of Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands.
  • "Provenza" debuted at #2 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart, one spot below Karol G's collaboration with Becky G, "Mamiii." In doing so, the Colombian became the first woman to hold the first two positions since 1995. On the September 9, 1995 tally, the late Selena ranked #1 with "Tú Sólo Tú" and #2 with "I Could Fall in Love."
  • Dutch DJ-producer Tiësto did a remix that reimagines "Provenza" as a thumping EDM anthem. Karol G included the new version on her 2023 Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) album.
