Songfacts®:

  • This song is about a girl that is very attractive and can make any man drop to his knees and worship her. She can be a tease: "And when you think she's let you in that's when she fades away." And if you're thinking about abstaining from sex, she'll break your will: "Molly's Chambers goin' change your mind." >>>

  • The title comes from a line in the Thin Lizzy version of "Whiskey In A Jar": "Being drunk and weary I went to Molly's chamber."

"We wrote around that, making it about this girl who had this secret power that would take you over," Caleb Followill told Entertainment Weekly.
  • This got a lot of attention when it was used in Volkswagen's "Independence Day" commercial to promote the 2005 Jetta sedan. In the TV spot, a young couple drives their Jetta to pick up speakers for their new home, where they won't irritate grouchy neighbors anymore with their loud music. RCA wanted Kings of Leon to exploit the exposure and re-release the song as a single – thinking it would be their big break in the States - but the band refused to rehash an old tune. Instead, their first big hit in the US came three years later with the #1 Modern Rock single "Sex on Fire."
  • This was used in the Farrelly Brothers comedy Stuck On You (2003), starring Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear.
