Songfacts®:

  • This Nicolle Galyon and Eric Paslay penned song finds a fragile Hillary Scott reflecting on love's challenges as she nurses a broken heart. The cut was one of six on Golden that came from outside writers and their material was key in helping Lady A find new dimensions and depths for the record. "We could never sit in a room together and write a song like 'Downtown' or 'It Ain't Pretty,'" said Scott. "Those songs that we didn't write pull out of us different things that we couldn't find within ourselves in a writing room."
  • Hillary Scott described this as, "that page in your diary you don't want anybody to read."
