Songfacts®:

  • Gaga kicks off this industrial stomper by saying, "I don't speak German, but I can if you like." She then proceeds to show off her German language skills - expletives and all. The song's title is the German word for s--t.
  • A remixed version of this bass-heavy dance track was originally used in a short fashion film directed by fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco and styled by fashion designer Mugler, which premiered on January 20, 2011. This isn't the first time Gaga presented new music at a fashion gig - she premiered "Bad Romance" in 2009 at the Alexander McQueen show.
  • This was one of three tracks on Born This Way to be co-written and produced by Lady Gaga's frequent collaborator, the Moroccan-Swedish producer/songwriter RedOne. The other tracks he worked on were "Judas" and "Hair."
