• In "Last Forever" LANY frontman Paul Klein yearns for deep, meaningful love that can last. He wrote it with the impermanence of life fresh in his mind. He'd just survived getting hit by a car and was visiting his friend Nicolle Galyon at her home in Sterling, Kansas. He told American Songwriter that Galyon, who frequently wrote columns for American Songwriter as well as penning songs such as "Automatic" by Miranda Lambert, was "like a big sister" to him.
  
  "We were at her house," Klein said. "When I got hit by the car, that was the only person I wanted to talk to. Nicolle was the only person I wanted to go sit in a room with and chop it up and start writing songs. So that's what we did. Steve and I, in July after I had healed up enough, I got clearance to take my crutch to Sterling, Kansas.
  
  We found one of the only Airbnbs available in town that faced the cornfield. And we just locked in that week and it was a beautiful core memory, a beautiful chapter in the book of my life. We were there and we wrote a song called 'Why,' which is on the album - that's another one of my favorites actually, that melody. That was a good day one. Day one. Then the next day we wrote a song called 'How To Hold An Angel,' which I think might see the light of day one day. And then 'Last Forever.' That was a pretty good day, a pretty good week. I love that song so much.
  
  When we were writing it, it was one of those moments when it just falls from the sky. You're just like, dude, I'm having so much fun writing this. I'm not wondering where we're going to go on the second verse. Somehow we all know exactly where we're going. It was one of those days where everyone's high-fiving."
• "Last Forever" appears on Soft, LANY's sixth studio album. The theme of the album was "remaining soft in a hard world," meaning remaining open to love and possibilities despite the harshness of reality. "Last Forever" expresses that theme.
• Klein wrote "Last Forever" with Jamaican soul singer Michael "Jimmy" James, who made his name in the '60s fronting Jimmy James and the Vagabonds in Britain. Another co-writer was Aodhan King of Hillsong Young & Free, an Australian Christian band.
