  • Liars guitarist Aaron Hemphill was studying microbiology when the band started. He attended Junior College in San Diego but then moved to Los Angeles to work at a record store.
  • Liars relocated from Los Angeles to New York City after singer Angus Andrew and drummer Julian Gross finished school. Originally, guitarist Aaron Hemphill was not a member of the band during their NYC years. Hemphill instead sold merchandise for the band at shows and provided comedic banter before their performances.
  • In 2003, Liars became interested in tales of witchcraft and folklore. They retreated to the woods of New Jersey to write a new album with Dave Sitek from TV On The Radio. They talked a lot about witch trials and traditions and from there, singer Angus Andrew came up with a story for the new album that would become 2004's They Were Wrong So We Drowned.
  • In 2004, Liars kept their music fresh by relocating once again. The band moved to Berlin and recorded a new album at an East Germany broadcasting studio. This time, their sound was heavy on drums and atmospheric guitar sounds. The album Drum's Not Dead came out two years later in 2006.
  • Liars were personally chosen by Portishead to perform at the ATP I'll Be Your Mirror festival in London in 2011.
  • Liars are big fans of Wu-Tang Clan. Singer Angus Andrew said that his band would love to open for the hip-hop group if they ever do a reunion tour. Other artists Liars enjoy are Björk, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and The Velvet Underground.
  • Liars frontman Angus Andrew is actually from Australia. Growing up, he listened to a lot of grunge music as a teenager, which inspired him to be a musician.
  • Liars singer Angus Andrew says his first celebrity crush was Julia Roberts. Andrew liked Roberts in Pretty Woman; a movie that also introduced him to Roy Orbison.
