Songfacts®:

  • "In My Head" is a street love song where Lil Tjay finds he's smitten by a girl. Though he "ain't too big on love," the rapper has "some funny feelings in my head," he can't ignore. Lil Tjay's previous lover hurt him, but he has a good feeling this time.
  • Lil Tjay has rapped about matters of the heart before. His 2021 single "Calling My Phone" takes a different angle as he talks about a former girlfriend who's unable to move on from him.
  • The song opens and closes with a slowed-down version of the hook from British singer-songwriter Iyaz's 2009 hit "Replay." Iyaz and his co-writers on that track, including fellow artists Sean Kingston and Jason DeRulo, all get writing credit on "In My Head."
  • Yoshi and Yvng Finxssa created the acoustic guitar-led beat. For both producers, it's their first placement with Lil Tjay.
  • The Medet-directed video finds Lil Tjay lying in a hospital bed trying to piece together how his night went wrong. It features a guest appearance from Atlanta rapper Rubi Rose, Tjay's on-off girlfriend.
