Songfacts®:

  • "Be By You" is a mid-tempo love song where Luke Combs leans into the idea that his entire center of gravity is simply being next to his wife, Nicole, whether it's in the truck, at home in the morning, or anywhere life takes them.
  • Released on February 13, 2026 - strategically positioned to ambush Valentine's playlists everywhere - the track continues Combs' long-running musical love letter to Nicole, following the heart-tugging trail blazed by the likes of "Beautiful Crazy," "Better Together," "Forever After All" and "The Kind of Love We Make." If those earlier songs captured the butterflies, fireworks, and occasionally suggestive candlelight of romance, "Be By You" is what happens when the butterflies settle down, put on slippers, and discover that contentment is oddly louder than grand gestures.
  • Nashville trio Dan Alley, Sam Banks, and Nick Walsh wrote the song.

Miamisburg, Ohio native Dan Alley moved to Nashville at 21 to pursue country music full-time after gigging around Ohio while working a day job. He's landed cuts with Lainey Wilson ("Straight Up Sideways"), Luke Bryan ("Country Song Came On") and Hudson Westbrook ("House Again").

Kansas City-raised country artist and songwriter Sam Banks is known for roots-driven, heartfelt lyrics and a traditional-meets-modern sound. His breakthrough came with Craig Morgan's 2020 God, Family, Country track, "Going Out Like This," after which he added further Morgan cuts alongside work with William Michael Morgan and Josh Ward. His knack for grounding songs in faith, family, and everyday devotion dovetails perfectly with "Be By You."

Nick Walsh is a Nashville-based songwriter. This is his first placement with a major artist.
  • Unlike many of Combs' hits, "Be By You" arrived via pitch rather than in-house writing. A friend brought the song to Combs, and although he didn't know the writers personally, he was instantly drawn to its melody and emotional familiarity. He heard his own life in the lyric; the feelings of being beside the person he loves.
  • The track appears on Combs' sixth studio album, The Way I Am, produced by Combs alongside Jonathan Singleton and Chip Matthews. "Be By You" functions as the record's straight-down-the-middle love song; a counterweight to the more reflective and road-worn material on the album.
