Songfacts®:

  • Major Lazer teams up here with Marcus Mumford for this guitar-driven tropical-folk lullaby. The Mumford & Sons frontman sings a series of reassurances, comforting someone in a time of crisis.

Every single choice that you make
Has led you this way so lay your head on me
  • This is Marcus Mumford's first-ever feature collaboration; the hookup came about after the British folk rocker became friends with Major Lazer's Diplo and they started experimenting in the studio together.
  • MØ co-wrote "Lay Your Head On Me." The Danish pop star has worked with Major Lazer on several previous occasions, including their huge 2015 hit "Lean On."
  • The Filip Nilsson-directed video finds Major Lazer, Marcus Mumford and MØ performing the song while quarantined in their homes. Patched together with the footage are 177 clips from 28 countries featuring dancers and musicians performing along with the song. Among the artists we see are Israeli pop duo Lola Marsh, London dancer Ashraf Ejjbair, Dream Catchers Academy (an academy of orphan children in Nigeria) and Brazilian brothers Renan and Renato, one of whom is blind. The global collaboration conveys a celebration of humanity.

Ryan Heffington, the Los Angeles-based dancer known for his work with Sia, Florence & The Machine, and FKA Twigs, choreographed the clip.
