Songfacts®:

  • A "thot" is a girl who is who people view as a slut or whore because she is unapologetic about using her body for sex. Here, Megan Thee Stallion raps from the perspective of her famed alter ego, Tina Snow, as she boasts about her sexual allure and status in the rap game.
  • Tina Snow first appeared on Megan's 2018 EP of the same name and was inspired by American rapper Pimp C's alter ego, Tony Snow. During a 2020 appearance on The Zach Sang Show she explained the character was "the side of me that's a little more gangster – she's just foot down, f--k y'all."
  • Megan explained on Twitter the song is about her taking ownership of the words "thot" and "hoe" from men who have used them to degrade women over the years.
  • This originated with a trap beat that Megan's producer Lil Ju and OG Parker (Migos' "Slippery," "Walk It Talk It") came up with. Parker told Revolt the pair produced about seven beats together at his house in Atlanta before sending them to the Houston rap dynamo's engineer, Shawn "Source" Jarrett." Megan chose one of them and freestyled the lyrics for "Thot Sh-t."
  • Aube Perrie directed the politically charged video. It depicts Megan Thee Stallion, as Tina Snow, getting revenge on a hypocritical white male senator after he posted a derogatory comment underneath one of her visuals.
