Songfacts®:

  • Meghan Trainor revealed the story behind this song during a track-by-track commentary. "This song is very special to me. I wrote it about my poppa when he was dealing with lung cancer way back when I was 18 years old and I was in New York City. I was a songwriter and I actually sent it to Christina Aguilera and she loved it and I think she was going to cut it but I think she had a baby or something and it didn't work out. But now it's on my album. I re-sung it and re-produced it and I'm so glad you will all hear this song."
