  • In a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest, Miranda said that this song concerns a current crush. "It's about a certain guy, but I haven't told him yet, so I'm kind of hoping he hears it on the radio or something and he realizes [it's about him]," she said.
    Miranda refused to reveal who the guy is. "I'm too embarrassed," she said. "What if he's listening?" After Ryan and his co-host prodded a little more, she admitted that the her crush is "kinda" famous and the same age as she is.
  • Miranda told MTV News that the album's title comes from the first verse of this song. She said: "The reason I ended up naming it Sparks Fly [is because] those are the first two words you hear when you pop my album in."
