Middle of the Night

Album: All About Luv (2019)

Songfacts®:

  • Here, Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M. croon about missing their ex. They are lying awake in the middle of the night, thinking about her.

    'Cause I can't lose everything I know
    I hate sleeping alone
    I'm picking up the phone

Monsta X explained to Billboard: "This track is solely based on the irresistible thoughts of regret after a break-up. Reminiscing through all the beautiful memories that you shared with your lover. Additionally, It also conveys the thought of what it could've been if things went differently."
  • The K-pop group penned the sultry song with Swedish songwriter Ali Payami (Taylor Swift's "...Ready For It?," The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face"). Payami also produced the track.
  • Monsta X performed the song live for the first time on December 7, 2019 at the B96 Pepsi Jingle Bash in Chicago.
  • The music video is a literal one, featuring the boy band members up in the middle of the night, thinking about the one that got away. "We took the music video as a one-take, and all the cuts are connected," they revealed to Radio.com.
