• Long before her pop career took off, Imbruglia worked at her father's chicken shop in her hometown of Berkeley Vale in New South Wales, Australia, selling potato gems (what Americans call tater tots) to local surfers.

"Even if I get up three hours before, I somehow manage to procrastinate," she told The Guardian, naming lateness as the personal trait she dislikes most in herself.
• She admits to occasionally forgetting her own lyrics mid-performance. Over the years, Imbruglia has learned to handle the awkwardness with charm, calling herself a "very good mumbler" on stage and noting that "you'd be surprised how few people notice" when she simply smiles through a mistake.
• Imbruglia's biggest phobia has nothing to do with stage fright or public scrutiny; it is tinned spaghetti. She revealed that a bad experience with the canned food at a friend's house during childhood left her unsettled for life. Her taste in snacks is equally down-to-earth, naming Haribo sweets and Wotsits crisps as her ultimate guilty pleasures.
