Songfacts®:

  • This aggressive, anthemic track finds Papa Roach lead singer Jacoby Shaddix battling negative thought patterns. He wants to be free from the depressed and anxious mindset that torments him.

"It's easy to get caught up in some of that static inside your mind - we all tangle with that demon," Shaddix said. "For us, 'Kill The Noise' brings some straight-up heavy music catharsis, a reminder to find that moment of peace from the noise."
  • During the pandemic-ridden summer of 2020, Papa Roach entered a COVID-secure mansion in Temecula, California. What started as an escape and an exercise in keeping the creative juices flowing became a fruitful writing session that birthed Ego Trip. The album takes us a through a wrestling match of Shaddix's ego, the ego of his higher and lower self. "Kill The Noise" is the first radio single released from the record.
  • Papa Roach produced the song along with WZRD BLD, aka Drew Fulk (Lil Peep's "Runaway," Beartooth's ("You Never Know," Disturbed's "Hey You) and Andrew Goldstein (All Time Low's "Monsters," Blackbear's "Hot Girl Bummer," Maroon 5's "Beautiful Mistakes").
  • The band teamed up with their frequent visual collaborator Bryson Roatch for the video. It showcases Papa Roach's raw and energetic performance of the song.
  • Papa Roach claimed its seventh #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart when "Kill The Noise" held the top position for over a month.
