Mike Rosenberg was the founder, main vocalist and songwriter of the four-piece folk rock group Passenger that were based in Brighton, England. After the breakup of the band, Rosenberg kept the moniker Passenger and took to busking for a solo music career. He told VH1 in a 2013 interview this song reflects his itinerant lifestyle: "I haven't had a house for five years," he said, "I've just been sleeping in hostels or hotels or mates' couches or whatever. You know, living like that kind of frees you up. You just start looking at life differently."
