Songfacts®:

  • Patrick Watson is both the name of a Canadian singer-songwriter and the experimental indie rock band that he fronts. This track is taken from Wooden Arms, their Polaris Music Prize nominated third album. The frontman explained to HK magazine that this song is, "actually more inspired by the idea behind the film Being John Malkovich. The day I wrote the song, someone beside me wouldn't stop talking about moving there and it made me think of waking up in someone else's life in Beijing. I'm so excited to finally go there."
  • Watson has been known to use unusual objects to make sounds for his music. For example, he "played" a bicycle in the studio for this song.
