  • In 1987, Perri "Pebbles" Reid scored her first breakthrough hit with her self-titled album, Pebbles, for MCA Records. The songs "Girlfriend" and "Mercedes Boy" became top 5 smashes on both the pop and R&B charts. The videos for the singles also played in heavy rotation on MTV, VH1, and BET.
  • In the late '80s, Pebbles married record producer Antonio "LA" Reid, who had recently co-founded LaFace Records with Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds. Pebbles also sang backup vocals on Paula Abdul's album Forever Your Girl in 1988.
  • After success as a solo artist, Pebbles turned her attention to finding and cultivating talent through her production company Pebbitone. In 1992, she discovered and developed the Atlanta girl-group TLC and turned them into a diamond-selling artist just two years later.

When the members of TLC filed for bankruptcy in 1995, they claimed their manager Pebbles had mismanaged their money so badly that they were now broke. Pebbles denied the accusations and claimed that she was only looking out for TLC's best interests in everything that she did. Soon, TLC and Pebbles parted ways and Pebbles' marriage to Antonio "LA" Reid also dissolved. The experience was so traumatizing that Pebbles left the music industry altogether.
  • In 1997, Pebbles claimed that she had found religion. She founded a ministry called Women of God Changing Lives Through Christ and returned to the music business after a 13 year hiatus. Her fourth album (but first Gospel album) Prophetic Flows Vol I & II reached #12 on the Billboard Gospel Album Chart.
  • Her sons are also involved in the music and TV business. Her oldest son Aaron goes by the name Aaron Alexander and is pursuing a career as a recording artist. He also appeared on an episode of the reality show My Super Sweet 16. Pebbles' younger son Tian is an actor and made his big break in a Pepsi commercial.
  • Before her marriage to L.A. Reid, Pebbles was married to a man named George Smith. Her third marriage was to Otis Nixon, a baseball player who played for 9 different major league teams from 1983-1999. They wed in the Bahamas in 2000, but the couple divorced in 2004.
