Songfacts®:

  • This was the first single from the album, which Poe recorded entirely on her computer using Pro Tools software. This allowed her to easily edit the tracks.
  • Poe considers Haunted a "concept album." Between songs are bits of audio from her father, who died in 1993. She found tapes of speeches he made and messages he left for her when cleaning out a storage facility of his stuff.
  • Poe's brother published a book around the same time this came out. Titled House Of Leaves, it is also based on his relationship with their father.
  • This was used as the theme song to the NCAA Women's Basketball tournament in 2001.
