  • Prince initially wrote this prior to Desert Storm as being critical of the possibility of impending war, but once the war started, he changed the lyrics slightly to be more sympathetic towards the soldiers.
  • The story is told from the perspective of a young man who was kicked out of his home and joined the Air Force, becoming a fighter pilot. >>
