Songfacts®:

  • Prophets of Rage is an American rap metal supergroup, consisting of Rage Against the Machine's Tim Commerford Tom Morello, and Brad Wilk, Public Enemy's Chuck D and DJ Lord, along with Cypress Hill's B-Real. The band took their name from the title of the Public Enemy song "Prophets of Rage" from their 1988 album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back.
  • The band released their debut single, also titled "Prophets of Rage" on July 18, 2016, to coincide with their protest performance at the Republican National Convention. The track is a re-imagination of the Public Enemy track of the same name, featuring new music and a new verse from B-Real.
