Album: Indestructible (2003)
Play Video

  • This song is about Rancid guitarist Lars Frederiksen's older brother, Robert "Rockin Rob" Dapello, who died in February 2001 at age 33 when he suffered a brain aneurysm while attending a concert. Dapello was a fixture in the South Bay (of Los Angeles) music community and big influence on Lars, who was four years younger.
  • Lars Frederiksen wrote this song with Rancid guitarist Tim Armstrong. The two share vocals on the track, with Frederiksen taking the verses and Armstrong the chorus. They cap their musical eulogy with the line, "I'll be seeing you on the other side."
  • "Otherside" closes out the sixth Rancid album, Indestructible. It was a rough one for the band to make; Frederiksen was coping with the death of his brother and Armstrong was going through a divorce.

  • Amanda from Anchorage, AkI'm fairly certain that the song is about Lars' brother. Not Tim's.
