Richie Kotzen penned this for his 2014 career retrospective collection, The Essential Richie Kotzen. The song finds the guitar virtuoso playing the Theremin, one of the first electronic musical instruments.
"There was a specific sound I was hearing in the song," he revealed. "I realized it was a theremin, so I bought one. I spent a couple of weeks learning it. I used that where the lead guitar would normally go. It was a really rewarding departure for me."
The seemingly inoffensive song, "Deep In The Heart Of Texas," was banned by the BBC when it was released in 1942. They deemed the song too catchy, with authorities in wartime Britain concerned that factory workers would be distracted if they heard it during a shift.
