Songfacts®:

  • "It's Only Us" is the theme song to the popular soccer video game FIFA 2000. Robbie Williams agreed to do the song on the condition his favorite team, Port Vale, was included in the game. The club was in a very low league at the time, but EA Sports agreed to the request, including the team in the "Rest of the World" section of the game.
  • Directed by Simon Hilton, the video sees Williams transforming into a mad scientist character who controls a computer-animated version of himself in Port Vale F.C. The clip also features computer-animated versions of Williams from previous videos, including "Let Me Entertain You" and "Millennium."
  • This song was released as a double A-side along with World Party cover "She's the One." It was Williams' second single to reach #1 in the UK, following "Millennium."
  • "It's Only Us" didn't originally appear on I've Been Expecting You. In 2000, however, Williams was sued by Loudon Wainwright III for copyright infringement over "Jesus In A Camper Van." Consequently, that song was removed from the album and replaced with "It's Only Us."
