Songfacts®:

  • This was written by Steve Harley (of Cockney Rebel) and Cockney Rebel's former guitarist Jim Cregan. It was released by Harley as a stand-alone single in 2001, peaking at #125 in the UK. The same version of the song later featured on the Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel 2005 studio album The Quality of Mercy.
  • Rod Stewart covered this for his album Another Country. (Jim Cregan is a long-time collaborator with Stewart, as well as Harley.) Stewart told Uncut: "I said I've got to do that one day. I dropped one of my own songs off the album so I could put that one on. Steve is very happy about that. He needed a new roof for his house."
  • Harley and Stewart have been friends for many tears. Harley previously helped co-write Stewart's track "Somebody Special" from his 1980 Foolish Behaviour album.
