  • "Scissors" is a term for a lesbian sexual position. Ana Matronic is not a lesbian, but three of the guys are openly gay, and are none are shy about sexuality or sexual orientation.
  • They were originally called Dead Lesbian and the Fibrillating Scissor Sisters.
  • Jake Shears (from an interview with ArjanWrites): "I never made a conscious decision to be out or not. This is just who I am. It is funny because people always ask me the gay question, but in Europe nobody cares. It is all about the music and performance. I hope that people will see us as a rock and roll band, not a queer band."
  • Ana Matronic has described herself as a "drag queen stuck in a woman's body."
  • Shears has spoken out against high prices at record stores, specifically at the Transworld Entertainment corporation, owner of the chains FYE, Coconuts, Spec's, Sam Goody, Suncoast and The Wherehouse. As a result, Transworld pulled Scissor Sisters product from their stores. >>
