• Amy Lee, who was Morgan's girlfriend at the time, appears in the video.
• Seether hooked up with producer Bob Marlette (Saliva, Filter) for their third studio album, Karma and Effect. "Remedy" was one of the first songs Shaun Morgan wrote with him.
  
  The two met up daily at the producer's Los Angeles house where he had a studio in his garage, and one day Marlette handed him a guitar. When Morgan started riffing, he felt there was something special about the guitar, and the producer dug what he was creating. Marlette especially liked one riff, so he recorded it and added programmed drums. Morgan came up with a verse and they built up the song, adding more lyrics and vocals. "I'm so proud of it," Morgan told American Songwriter in 2022. "It's one of those where you think 'Man, I wish I could write another one like that,' because it's still one of people's favorite songs."
• Released as the first single from Karma and Effect, "Remedy" became Seether's first song to reach #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. It spent eight non-consecutive weeks at the top position.

  "Frail-the skin is dry and pale" I believe that line right there is talking about shooting up, and how the "pain will never fail and so we go back to the remedy" for me, this holds true. No one wants to feel emotional pain (ending a relationship, the death of a loved one) so what do you do? Revert back to the "remedy" grab that needle and find a vein.

I liked to drink and drink a loads of beer and I mean the good stuff not that waterd down American piss they call beer here in America. I guess when you come from a society where drinking is the norm you don't think about the consequences until it gets its hooks into you. That in my opinion is how insidious drinking can be especially if you can't handle it.

"Frail, the skin is dry and pale, the pain will never fail And so we go back to the remedy" to me, this song means that people, when in pain, always go to the quick, temporary solution, whether it be booze, drugs, or harassing (not sexually) people to share the misery. And the line "Hold your eyes closed, take me in" most likely refers to how these temporary solutions become a part of everyday life, and you think nothing of it. It's sad, but the message is important.
