Songfacts®:

  • She & Him is an American indie folk band consisting of singer and pianist Zooey Deschanel and guitarist and producer Matthew "M" Ward. Deschanel told The Sun April 2, 2010 about this song: "I liked the idea of writing a song with a piano vamp at the beginning so I started writing this with the vamp which sounds sort of like a locomotive in straight time, then I thought it would be fun to switch to shuffle time for the prechorus and chorus. It creates a sense that is passing. Matt spent time layering the production to give this song a very lush feel."
