Songfacts®:

  • This was the song that launched the career of Stephen Jerzak, who was 16 years old when he wrote the song, recorded it using GarageBand software, and uploaded it to MySpace in 2008. The Wisconsin singer quickly gained a following, and "Cute" became his most popular song, leading to a contract with Universal Records in 2009. Explaining why the song caught on, Jerzak told us: "I think just the whole pick-up line vibe, really simple song, like I can't believe it blew up as much as it did. I had no idea when I wrote it that it would have millions of plays on YouTube and sell hundreds of thousands of singles." (Check out our full interview with Stephen Jerzak.)
