Songfacts®:

  • This is a track from Bangles vocalist/guitarist Susanna Hoffs' third solo album, Someday. The 1960s-influenced set was co-written with Nashville musician Andrew Brassell, produced by Mitchell Froom and released via Vanguard Records on July 17, 2012.
  • Hoffs told Spinner: "This is the very first song Andrew Brassell and I wrote together, but our original version had a country/folk feel to it, in the spirit of a June Carter/Johnny Cash duet. Mitchell Froom's production, along with his Burt Bacharach-inspired arrangement, really brought out the melody and helped fuel the emotion of the song."
  • Hoffs explained the song's meaning to Spinner: "'Picture Me' is about the burning desire to know where you stand with your significant other and, more importantly, whether the love you feel for them is truly reciprocated. The mood and emotional tide of the song shift from playful and flirtatious to anxious and insecure. Still, there is a shimmer of hopefulness throughout and, in the end, the yearning for true love is the theme that endures."
