Songfacts®:

  • This song is about a guy who is reminiscing on his past relationship, presumedly with his girlfriend. He realizes the relationship would have never worked, but he regrets not making her stay: "Sorry that I couldn't make you stay." "Puddles in the rain" is an analogy of him falling apart after this relationship has ended. >>>

  • Brandie from Jacksonville, AlI disagree with the puddles in the rain comment that Amina posted. Puddles in the rain would make more sense meaning that he is already hurt and thinking about it just adds more pain to his "puddle." He knows that eventually it will all wash away, but as of the moment the "rain" and tears just keep falling
  • Brandie from Jacksonville, AlThis takes place after a breakup. He wishes instead of being friends that she would hate him so he could in turn hate her. It would make moving on a lot easier if his feelings were spat upon.
