Songfacts®:

  • This was written by Go-Go's guitarists Charlotte Caffey and Jane Wiedlin - the first of many songs they wrote together. It was one of the songs that made it onto their first album Beauty And The Beat from the early days of the band, when The Go-Go's played in more of a Punk style. Wiedlin says of the early version of this song, "It was faster, but I wouldn't say it sounded a ton different." She adds, "I don't even remember who we wrote it about, but I'm sure at the time it was very heart-rending." (Check out our interview with Jane Wiedlin.)
