Songfacts®:

  • This is the opening track of The Wave, former Keane singer Tom Chaplin's debut solo album. Following the band's split, Chaplin began using drugs due to anxiety over recording his own material and by early 2015 was in a bad place due to cocaine addiction. He sings here:

Buried in the rubble there's a boy in trouble reaching for a piece of the sky.

Chaplin explained to The Sun: "That's very bleak and it's me saying, 'I am stuck, I am f---ed and I am back in this horrible place again.'"
