Songfacts®:

  • This tune was inspired by the 1984 movie Gremlins. McCoy told Alternative Press the story of the song: "You're not supposed to see gremlins after midnight - or get them wet - and I feel like that's what's happened with my friends. If you see them after midnight, it's trouble. This was one of the songs I wrote the quickest for the album. I went right into the booth and recorded myself humming the melody. I got out of the booth and had them loop that. Then I wrote the lyrics in about 15 minutes, went in and laid down the hook. Then we did all the overdubs, but that song probably took about a total of about 25 to 30 minutes to complete."
