Album: Just a Game (1979)

  • Not since Bob Seger's "Turn The Page" have we heard a more disconsolate song about life on the road, dispelling the myth that it's all glamor. The song was written by Triumph lead singer Rik Emmett, who told Songfacts this song "changed my life in ways that had a profound effect on me."

Emmett certainly appreciated all that being a rock star had to offer, but he was more into the music than the hedonism. In 1988, Rik left the band to start a solo career. He later got into music journalism and taught songwriting at Humber College in Toronto.
  • This is an album track from Just A Game, Triumph's third album and their breakthrough in America. The band had been at it for about four years by this point, and were weary from the grind of touring.
